Front cover analysis

The first thing you look at is a front cover of a magazine. The front cover catches the readers eyes by their colourful fonts and an image from the artist or band. The front cover presents you a brief look of what is on their magazine this week. The front cover has a lot of layers of different images and fonts and the cover shows many features that wouldn't see in the other sources of news. The front cover gives you the information as well including the cost of it, the bar code, the date it was release and the number issue. I analyzed the front cover this month Q magazine and on the front was the Prodigy.

The first thing you look at is a front cover of a magazine. The front cover catches the readers eyes by their colourful fonts and an image from the artist or band. The front cover presents you a brief look of what is on their magazine this week. The front cover has a lot of layers of different images and fonts and the cover shows many features that wouldn't see in other sources of news. The front cover gives you the information as well including the cost of it, the bar code, the date it was release and the number issue. I analysed the front cover this month Q magazine and on the front was the prodigy.

The two images are in great effect with each other. There is a long crack on the floor and above it shows the leading man of the prodigy. This shows that the prodigies are a big band by covering the whole magazine. The open mouth and the siren speaker shows to the reader that their music is really loud and that could have caused the cracks on the floor to give an effect.

The colour font has meaning to it as well. The colour red on the font brings out a bold notice to people. Red is a very strong colour to put out as the colour of the font. The red is an eye catching and for the readers, the font that has the colour red will be the first to be read. The typography of Q magazine is very easy to read. The names of the bands are in bold. The bold font is a very common font in the modern era.

The layout of the magazines shows you where everything is placed. In this magazine the layout of the bands are on the right hand side so that can audience can see who is on the magazine.

The layout of the logo is normally at the top left hand corner. The logo is always there because your audience is trying to find your magazine and the logo makes the reader find it. Without the logo you wouldn’t know what magazine to buy. But Q is a very common magazine and the overlapping of pictures on the logo shows confidence because they know their audience are able to know what magazines are Q magazines.

The colours on the front cover of the magazine are very original. The white, red and black represent the colours of Q. The red is the main colour here because its shows excitement and stands out a lot by the bright colour. The white, is the background colour. The white makes everything stand out for the people to see it clearer.

The layout of the title is very creative. You can see it runs down from the bands/artists and the “the” under the other bands and is still attach to the interviews and that shows that the Prodigy is main article with in this magazine this month.

What i know about music magazine

Just before i began this task i didnt know really much in music magazines. i know there are music amgazine called Q, Kerrang and NME but not quite a lot. In music magazines they give ouyt interviews to singers, artists or bands. Most front covers of magazines have a particular artist they have either reviewed or interviewed. In a magazine they reviewed an album of band or a singer in their genre because thats is what their viewing audience wants to read. A magazine brings you dates of a concert that you can go watch and see for the right price.

For me to have a full understanding of goes on in a music magazine, i am going to buy and analyse a music magazines key features.
